What to Do With a Lost or Broken Tooth

When your tooth falls out or is broken, we have the best chance of saving it if you take the following quick steps outlined below. See us within an hour to have the best chance of preserving your natural tooth.

Lost Tooth

If you can find your tooth, it is important you handle it with care. Please avoid touching the root (only handle on the biting surface). Once you have the tooth, gently rinse it under clean water without scrubbing anything away.

After cleaning, attempt to place the tooth back in its place. If it doesn’t fit, store the tooth in a container of milk and visit us for an emergency appointment.

Similar to a lost tooth, it is important to clean the area as soon as the break happens. Rinse your mouth with warm water and apply gauze to stop any bleeding. If you can find the broken piece of tooth, store it in a container of milk and visit us for an emergency appointment.
